Lake Park Raiders! Indoor CAS in Niles, Ohio April 14, 2018

"Is this a 'Hunter' holster?"

"No, it's a leather holster, but I did have to hunt for it."

The Lake Park Raiders Rode Again!

Saturday April 14, 2018

Indoor Cowboy Action at the

Western Reserve Fish and Gamer Club in Niles, Ohio.

It was chilly Saturday morning and looked like it would start raining any minute. This type of spring-time Ohio weather only means one thing; Have the Cowboy Action match indoors! HaHaHa!

What a day! We arrived at the club to find new down-range cardboard installed and all the tables set up and covered with the horse blankets! What a great surprise!

Thanks for coming in so early and doing this, folks! We salute you!

Fifteen paper-punching pistoleers rode into the peaceable little town of Niles, Ohio to engage 5 fun-filled stages of push pinned paper scenarios just like they had in the old west!

There were Bad Hombres, Curly Bill’s Daisies, the Double Tap Krazy Thom sweep, the Tee-Pee Trap sweep with “in-tents” drumming by Mo using his own Schwan’s ice cream Thom Thom in Mo-hawk style!

We also did the Big X sweep formally known as the Missouri Jake el Mysterioso sweep! HaHa!

Congratulations to all our winners and contestants!

First place went to Swiftwater Jack! He’s back from the desert ‘cause he heard there was plenty of water to be had in North East Ohio!

Welcome back, Jack! Congratulations!

Second place went to Krazy Thom! Is that Krazy or what?

Lenny James came in third place and as soon as he gets his hardware sighted in, he might come in first one day! I should have told him not to bother sighting in if he’s gonna shoot black powder! He won’t be able to see the targets anyway! HaHa!

Hagen got the fourth place spot followed by Mo hisself in fifth. Ain’t that a wonderment!

No clean shooters today! Ain’t THAT a wonderment!

Congratulations to everyone and thank you for coming to participate and for all your help putting on this match. Everyone pitched in and made this match one of the smoothest that ever was!

Big thanks to Shenango Joe for bringing in a small mountain of prizes for everyone. No one left empty handed! Joe had a prize drawing with tickets from the whole indoor shooting season!

Big thanks to Mrs. Mo, our scorekeeper and big thanks to Ohio Silver for coming to the rescue with his keys. If it wasn’t for him, who knows how this match would have turned out. It might have been Krazy!

Our next match is Thursday April 26, 2018. It’s our Thursday Work Shirker Open Class CAS Match!

Shoot two-handed, one-handed, Gunfighter style, or any style you want. Shoot a different style on every stage!

You know you want to be a Gunfighter! You know you want to shoot that shotgun Lawman Style!

We’re going to do the Bad Hombre scenario one last time and another exciting rendition of the Krazy Thom sweep, the good ol’ Two-One-Two sweep and maybe the Annie Oakley meets King Kong sweep!

Next, we’ve got to try another Bad Eye Blob scenario to get the trigger digits limbered up for the great outdoors! Bang! Clang! Right?

We return to outdoor Cowboy Action at the Brookfield Conservation Club in Masury, Ohio starting in May.

We’re working on a few things to make the CAS experience more enjoyable! No, the steel’s gonna stay the same size!

We hope all our friends who are under the weather get better soon and we wish the best for the folks we haven’t seen in a while. You’re still in our thoughts and prayers and we’re thinking of you.

Spectators are always welcome. Hearing protection and eye protection is mandatory. Come out and watch for a spell!

See you next time,

Slow Mo Dern

Cowboy Action Shooting is a wonderful sport and these activities promote honesty, moral correctness, a love of history, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun!”

- David Chicoine

“Think about it, where else could you go and dress up like a cowboy or western movie actor, talk like you were from Wyoming, even though you grew up in Akron, enjoy your favorite sport (shooting!) and play the ham all at the same time without the slightest chance of being ridiculed?”

Go out there and try it, you’ll be glad you did!
