Saturday CAS Match at Brookfield! May 12, 2018

Mr. Gunfighter sez: "This coffee tastes like mud, pard!"

Mo sez: "'Course it do! It was 'ground' this morning! Ha! Ha!"

These guys never learn!

"Hey, you gonna eat that steak?"

"How 'bout some leeks with that?" Wink wink...

Saturday Match at Brookfield!

Shenango River Rats Blog May 12, 2018

Another good time was had by all!

The weather was perfect for a 5 stage CAS match; we finished before the rain drops fell, had a quality lunch, thanks Kat, had plenty of laughs, and everything ran like a $300 Thom Duma timepiece!

Thank you to everyone for making the whole shindig a success!

Krazy Thom got first place followed by clean-shootin’ Swiftwater Jack and our good friend Rowdy Red Tailor.

All the scores can be seen on our website:

Congratulations to all our winners and participants!

Our next match is on Thursday May 31, 2018.

Hope to see you there!

Don’t forget to RSVP Buckaroo Bubba today if you intend to take the Range Officer classes on May 19, 2018. He needs to know today!

Note: He needed to know Saturday May 12, 2018. Today is Sunday.

16 shooters came out to blast some steel today.

Swiftwater Jack, Duelin’ Diehl, and the Brunswick Kid all shot a clean match.

Thanks to Missouri Jake for bringing in his trailer and scoring the match.

Thanks to Kat and Jerry for bringing in pulled pork sandwiches, chips, cole slaw, cookies and brownies. A good lunch was had by all!

Hagen put on a side match before the regular match with some help from Rattlesnake Ruby; it was entitled, “I fought the fan and the fan won!”

You had to shoot the revolving steel discs on the motorized contraption we got from Muzzle Flash and Heartless Hanna. Lenny James won this fun-filled match. Congratulations, Lenny!

I didn’t win ‘cause I thought I was supposed to shoot the spaces in between the discs! HaHa! Better luck next time, Mo!

No “elk” stage today. We’ll do it another time. Today, we shot the clay birds, the Tusco sweep, the famous rat hotel, the new Miss Katie’s Cactus Corral with mucho gusto from Hagen shooting black powder Outlaw Style with a shotgun “make-up” but running out of shot shells before all the plates were down. It was a blast!

Everyone was in a goodly state of merriment at the end of his run!

We also saved Roy and Dale from the leek-stealin’ bandits on stage 3 and stopped the bad guys from taking any leeks! Next time we’ll shoot the lock off the strong box and maybe have a bonus.

T.J. Law Dog came to shoot. It was his first outdoor match, ever! He looked like he was having fun!

Veddy Badman and his partner Suety Hawk came to participate today. It was a real pleasure visiting with them today. They’re well and doing fine! Welcome back, folks!

Remember, our next match is the Thursday Work Shirker Open Class CAS Match on May 31, 2018.

Shoot any style you want and try something different!

This is your chance to “mix it up a little” and try it one-handed, both-handed, Gunfighter style, duelist, or double duelist!

I hope to see you there packin’ iron, hog-legs, and hardware!

Spectators and visitors are always welcome. Please bring your hearing protection and eye protection!

Thanks again everyone!

Cowboy Action Shooting is a wonderful sport and these activities promote honesty, moral correctness, a love of history, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun!”

- David Chicoine

“Think about it, where else could you go and dress up like a cowboy or western movie actor, talk like you were from Wyoming, even though you grew up in Akron, enjoy your favorite sport (shooting!) and play the ham all at the same time without the slightest chance of being ridiculed?”

Go out there and try it, you’ll be glad you did!
